Cape Shop

This one was made while sitting at the counter of the bakery/coffee shop/bar/music venue Cake Shop on Ludlow Street in the Lower East Side. I was waiting for Teep to show up for a bit of NYC shopping and was enjoying a bit of hot chocolate and a chocolate chip cookie. I'm suffering from some pretty bad Jet-Lag and as a result have been waking up pretty early. On this particular morning I was able to watch some Saturday morning cartoons, including "The Batman". So you can see the progression - Batman --> Cape + Cake Shop = Cape Shop.

Amazing!

Oh, Steve bought the bike gang a grappling hook for X-mas. Not sure what we are going to do with that thing, scale a building I suppose.

12-14-06 Vancouver Airport

So I've fallen off the "one post per day" pace a bit in the past two weeks. Working full days while dealing with jet-lag during my time in Hong Kong and China left little time or energy to sketch and post. Fortunately I am taking some time off from work to visit with my family and hang out with my Niece for the holidays. I should be able to get back on track with more regular posts.

This one is from my layover in Vancouver while on my way home from HK. At first I found this sketch a daunting but the more I worked on it the more I liked it. I had plenty of time to work on this one, we were in the Vancouver International Airport for well over two hours. We stopped to let off some travelers and refuel but while on the ground the mechanics discovered a part that needed to be replaced before we could continue to NYC. Luckily they were able to find the part and send us on our way soon enough. The folks at the airline were nice enough to serve mini sandwiches, orange juice and oatmeal raisin cookies to keep us fat and happy while we waited.

Back in HK

I made it back to Hong Kong without any trouble. I've settled into my hotel room and will be here for the next week, hopefully I can get into the habbit of posting for the next week.

Road to China

Hello from Dongguan City in Guangdong Province, China!
This is a sketch from the van ride from Hong Kong to mainland China. I'm out here for a few days for work and trying my best to make some sketches along the way. Today we were working at one of our vendor's factory revising some Fall '07 product, nothing too exciting to report, until lunch. We had working lunch so food from outside was brought in from outside the factory, "what type of food did you eat?" you might be wondering. Well they picked up some McDonald's food for us and on a whim I decided to have a Big Mac™. The funny part is this Big Mac™ so happened to be my first one, ever! I find it funny that I ended up traveling half way around the world to have my first (and so far only) Big Mac™.

I guess I should have drawn my burger as well.

To Do

This is not a drawing but a random To Do list and a found book page that just about a year old. Not really too interesting but I was cleaning up in preparation to leave NYC for Hong Kong (I hate coming home to a dirty apartment) and I found it buried in a pile on my desk. The found book page features old illustrations of the White House back in the day, before the landscaping grew up around the building.

I'm pretty busy this week but will try to get my act together and post some drawings. I'm going to be in HK from 12/2 until 12/15 nearly two weeks. I'm brining my computer and will try to post drawings as often as possible.

Stained Glass

I was just doodling on a napkin and this came out. It reminds me of a stained glass window.
