Crow?

A copy of the bird icon (is it a crow?) that was on the inside flap of the corn meal bag that I bought to make corn meal drop biscuits.

I like the shape of the "5" quite a bit.

One Step

"Hey, does peter like Polaroid Cameras?"

Yes, I do, and here is a drawing of a Polaroid One Step Land camera. I'm not sure when exactly this camera was manufactured but it used the SX-70 film so I would guess it dates back to the late 1970's or possibly the early 80's. I own one of these but it is buried somewhere so the was a drawing from memory. As you can see some of the details are incorrect.

Shelf!

A first for the daily drawings, a digital image. This is the sketch elevation of the IKEA shelving unit I'm planning on purchasing. I did a pencil sketch with the dimensions and posted it a few weeks ago. Here is the scale drawing produced in Adobe Illustrator. It looks like everything will fit as I had planned it and the total price of the parts needed for this set-up is only $163.00 what a deal!

Polaroid Land Camera

Here is my Polaroid plastic Land Camera first outlined in finepoint Sharpie and then filled in with Caran d'Ache watercolor pencils. I enjoyed working with watercolor again but found the brush that came with the set to be somewhat difficult to work with. Also the Moleskin book I was using does not seem to accept water very quickly so it take too long for the color to dry. I would like to experiment with some proper water color paper sometime soon.

Hub Dimensions

This is the two hub measurements needed to calculate the length of spokes needed to build a new wheel. Andrew, Travis and I are building some wheels for our bikes.

Hash Browns

A pencil drawing of hash browns and a bottle of beer made on the backside of a laundry receipt. We had a late night snack at the diner tonight. I didn't order any food as I made some split pea soup and read "The Power Broker" for most of the evening.

Wheels

Tonight at dinner I was explaining to Andrew and Travis some of the structural qualities of bicycle wheels and these are some placemat drawings. Nothing too crazy or exciting.

Top Shelf

Here we have an elevation sketch of the location where I would like to install a new IKEA shelf sometime in the near future. I'm going to do a quick scale layout in Illustrator to make sure that everything fits the way I want before I invest the time and $$$ to pick up the "IVAR" storage unit from my friendly Swedish furniture store.

Coaster Brake

Happy New Year! The end of 2006 was a bit bumpy in terms of the regularity of my postings but I'm hopeful that I can settle into a better rhythm for 2007. To start off this new year I've gone back to the topic of my first post, bicycle bits'n'pieces. This is a coaster brake hub that I found in the trash over the weekend. I've removed the old, crappy steel rim and spokes and taken it apart and cleaned it out. Soon I will order a new rim and spokes so that it can fit on my Raleigh city bike.
